As you should know by now good health and nutrition is the foundation to sustaining a long and healthy lifestyle. In fact, nutrition is imperative for health and growth. It provides nourishment for your body so you can sustain daily mental and physical activity. Or you can also say it provides mental and physical wellness. However, without proper nutrition you run the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other debilitating afflictions and ailments.

So now that we know how important nutrition is for health and overall wellness, let’s next discuss the benefits of health and nutrition.

Benefits of Good Nutrition

  1. Good Nutrition will provide a Boost to your Immune System
  2. Proper Nourishment will help Prevent Disease (e.g. heart disease)
  3. It will help you Lose Weight and is good for Weight Management
  4. Proper Nutrition is good for Brain Health
  5. Good Nutrition will Increase Energy Levels
  6. Will help you Maintain Strong Bones and Teeth

And many, many more benefits of what a good nutritional diet will do to heal your body.

So the next question you may be asking yourself is; how do I go about getting the proper nutrition necessary to achieve good health and wellness? Very simply a good diet and nutrition plan entails a balanced diet of necessary nutrients. So what is a balanced diet consisting of the necessary nutrients? Well, it can be broken down into two major components; macronutrients and micronutrients.

Let’s first define macronutrients:

Macronutrients are a class of foods (nutrients) that humans consume in large quantities that provide calories or energy.

There are three types of macronutrients:

  • Carbohydrate
  • Protein
  • Fat

Next we will define micronutrients:

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

“Micronutrients are dietary components, often referred to as vitamins and minerals, which although only required by the body in small amounts, are vital to development, disease prevention, and wellbeing. Micronutrients are not produced in the body and must be derived from the diet.”

So those are the two major components needed for a balanced diet; and a balanced diet consisting of these necessary nutrients is essential to maintaining good health and total wellness.

However, nowadays there’s a nutritional gap in most people’s diets because food just does not have the same nutritional value that it had years ago. So what’s the solution to fill in the nutritional gap that a regular diet (food) leaves behind these days?

Nutritional Supplements: Nutritional Insurance

The solution to fill in the nutritional gap that a regular diet (food) leaves behind these days is very simply adding nutritional supplements to your everyday diet plan. I like to refer to adding nutritional supplements to my daily diet plan as “nutritional insurance”!
